Do you have a primary care provider? They should be your first point of contact for all your health concerns, as yearly visits are key to early detection and optimal health.

“As your everyday health partner, I ensure you have the best preventative care to keep you healthy so you can enjoy all of life’s important moments,” says Dr. Alexandra von Lindeman, Primary Care Ambulatory Medical Director at Lakeland Regional Health. “And if you need more specialized care, I will actively coordinate referrals within our amazing group of specialists.”

Did you know? There are options for what kind of primary care provider you can see. Below, the experts at Lakeland Regional Health walk us through the different provider options so you can find one that works best for you.

Family medicine

Looking for a physician for the whole family? Enter: Family medicine.

“The best thing about family medicine is its comprehensive and holistic approach that offers personalized care for every member of your family, from childhood through adulthood and to the best years beyond,” says Dr. Anthony Moon with LRH’s Family Medicine department. “It ensures continuity and a deeper understanding of your overall health.”

“Having a primary care physician means having someone understand your health needs provide personalized advice, and helping you stay ahead of potential health issues so you can live your best life,” says Dr. Moon.

Internal medicine

If you’re looking for a physician for just you or adult family members, internal medicine is the way to go, as it focuses on the comprehensive care of adult patients.

“As an internal medicine physician, my goal is to diagnose, treat, and prevent a multitude of disease processes,” says Dr. Sherrilyn Detiquez with Internal Medicine.

Pediatrics

The youngest family members need care too, and pediatric care is the best way to get insights on their growth and development.

“Pediatrics involves so much more than giving shots and lollipops — we work collaboratively with the child and family to ensure their physical, mental, and emotional well being,” says Dr. Hinds

“Parents often worry about their child’s growth, physical, and cognitive development,” says Dr. Nicole Hinds, a pediatric physician.

“Subtle changes can be detected by a pediatrician who knows your child. Having an established pediatrician is essential to your child’s health and well-being as well as a support system for parents and guardians.”
