From routine wellness visits (reminder: schedule your annual visit) to advanced treatments, Lakeland Regional Health is committed to supporting women’s health at every stage of life.
Providing comprehensive, compassionate care for women with a team of specialized physicians and state-of-the-art technology, LRH ensures that women receive the highest standard of care, whether they are managing breast health, reproductive issues, or other health concerns.
Let’s explore the unique care options available and meet a few of the physicians providing expert-level care.
💖 Breast care
From early detection through routine screenings to treating malignant and benign breast diseases, LRH is there every step of the way.
Dr. Vanessa Prowler is a trained clinician in cancer risk assessment with a clinical focus on high-risk breast patients and a technique called “oncoplastic” surgery.
Dr. Prowler is also the only surgeon in the area to use the advanced “hidden scar” technique for her patients undergoing breast surgery. She completed additional training to learn how to make smaller incisions in a hidden area underneath the breast to ensure that breast cancer patients do not have large, noticeable scars long after their cancer journey is over.
“My hope is that when a woman looks in the mirror for the rest of their life, they won’t see that scar anymore,” Dr. Prowler said.
🩺 Reproductive care
Whether seeking routine reproductive care or managing complex gynecologic conditions, LRH specialists offer advanced treatment options focused on enhancing patients’ well-being and quality of life.
Dr. Angelina Carey-Love, a leader in Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery (MIGS), provides expert care for conditions like endometriosis, fibroids, and pelvic pain.
“My goal is to value each person as a unique individual and work alongside them to achieve their health goals,” she explained, emphasizing the importance of tailored care and empowering patients with treatment choices.
Dr. Lindsey Hahn, a fellowship-trained urogynecologist and board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology, focuses on pelvic floor disorders, helping women regain their quality of life through both conservative and surgical treatment options.
“I work to build a relationship with each patient so we can collaborate to meet her health goals,” Dr. Hahn said.
Complementing their efforts, Dr. Shelena Ali-Bynom, who specializes in preventative women’s health, emphasized the power of patient education: “Knowledge is power, and I aim to ensure my patients feel heard and cared for.”
🍼 Labor and delivery
At LRH, every step of the journey to motherhood is supported with care and compassion — even helping new parents with their infant’s health too, including helping them with car seat checks and providing additional resources.

🧠 Postpartum mental health care
The experts at LRH know that care for moms doesn’t stop once their baby arrives, especially in the realm of mental health.
Dr. Nicole Shirvani, a psychiatrist specializing in peripartum mood disorders, is dedicated to helping women navigate the emotional challenges that can arise during pregnancy and after childbirth.
Postpartum Depression (PPD) affects 15-20% of women, but Dr. Shirvani reassures women that, “you are not alone in your experience,” and encourages them to seek support and treatment.
