To get you off on the right foot this year, here’s a roundup of what’s being included in Lakeland officials’ agenda for 2020:
- A heightened focus on roadway infrastructure + transportation:
The South Florida Avenue Experiment (slated to start this spring). - The potential of a transit hub – that could replace the 30-year-old Citrus Connection Center.
- More parking (looking at you Lakeland Police Department-adjacent garage + Heritage Parking Garage).
All that’s happening at Lakeland Linder International Airport:
- Amazon opening a 285,000 sq. ft. air cargo facility this summer, which will bring up to 1,000 jobs to the area.
- Commercial air service is still in the talks, according to city leaders.
Groundbreaking developments:
- Florida Polytechnic University’s innovation district.
- A look at the city’s Catalyst plan – featuring a future skyline for the city in years to come.
- Warehouse development near I-4.
