In a recent study done by WalletHub, Florida saw a 3578.76% increase in unemployment claims (comparing Jan. 2020 to April 2020).

Many employers across the state have expressed a need for more employees to match the market demands and some have even announced a pay raise for frontline employees who are risking their lives to provide us goods and services we need each and every day.

In order to help those who are out of a job, we are providing a list of essential businesses looking to hire more workers and provide FL with necessary goods to combat COVID-19 demands.

  • Southern Homes is hiring for two positions: New Home Sales Specialist + Public Relations And Advertising Coordinator Job.
  • The U.S. Department of Labor is looking to hire 45 people to conduct investigations to determine employers’ compliance with applicable federal labor law. (WFTS Tampa Bay)
  • Walmart is looking to hire 150,000 workers for its distribution and fulfillment centers + truck drivers.
  • Pizza Hut has more than 30,000 positions to fill, ranging from drivers and cooks to shift leads and managers, with several in Lakeland.
  • Walgreens announced it will hire roughly 9,500 full- and part-time employees at its stores and pharmacies – including customer service associates, pharmacy technicians, and shift leads. Click here for the positions open in the Lakeland area.
  • Instacart is looking to hire 300,000 contract workers over the next three months. For more flexible hours, you can apply to be a delivery driver for DoorDash and Uber, or shop for groceries for others as a Shipt Shopper. (ABC 11)
  • With COVID-19 making changes to census data collection + completion date, the hiring process is a little different, however, census teams are still looking to hire.   • Senior Helpers is hiring dozens of Certified Nursing Assistants and Home Health Aides. First Presbyterian Church of Lakeland has a full-time position available for Director of Communications. Those interested may contact enicholas@fpclakeland.org.
