The fans, artists, and celebrities are ready — we hope you R2.

We’re lighting up the Bat Signal for all Lakeland superfans — now’s your time to shine. This weekend kicks off Central Florida Comic Con (CFCC), which describes itself as a celebration of all things nerdy, including comics, movies, games, and art.

Need-to-know info

CFCC will take over the RP Funding Center from Friday, Jan. 17 through Sunday, Jan. 21 — one more day than in years past. You can buy tickets + VIP passes for the full weekend or just one day.

Can’t-miss events

Get ready for an action-packed weekend, because the events are non-stop. Listen in on expert panels, try your hand at gaming tournaments, and ask stars your burning questions in Q+As. Pencil in these events:

  • Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: A Robbie Rist Q+A | Friday, Jan. 17 | 6 p.m.
  • Create a Dungeons and Dragons Character in an Hour | Saturday, Jan. 18 | 3 p.m.
  • Super Smash Bros. Tournament | Sunday, Jan. 19 | 11 a.m.

Meet your favorite stars dressed as your favorite character at CFCC.

If you’re a cosplayer (aka someone who loves dressing as their favorite character), don’t miss the cosplay contests on Saturday at 5:30 p.m. and on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. Pro tip: Read over the costume policies before finalizing your ‘fit.

High-profile exhibitions

In between games and contests, stop by the Exhibition Halls to browse art, collectibles, and merch featuring your favorite characters — make sure to keep an eye out for local business Inklings Book Shoppe.

Big names in the entertainment world will also be at CFCC for panels and meet and greets, including Dante Basco (Rufio from “Hook”) and Emily Swallow (The Armorer in “The Mandalorian”). Check out the price list for autographs and selfies.
