Try This: Take a stroll through Bonnet Springs Park’s Crenshaw Canopy Walk

Hey, Lakeland. City Editor Connor here. 👋 It’s no secret that our team is ready for the opening of Bonnet Springs Park here in Lakeland on Sat., Oct. 22. After getting a chance to try the park’s Crenshaw Canopy Walk, I couldn’t be more excited. Here’s what it was like to walk through the treetops.

What we tried (with pricing):

When I arrived at the park, it was just a short walk to the entrance of the Crenshaw Canopy Walk, a one-of-a-kind experience through the trees. The walk is roughly 1,500 feet long and 24 feet high at its tallest point — perfect for a bird’s-eye view of the park — and free to access.

I felt so relaxed strolling high over the forest floor. You can hear the birds chirping nearby, feel the breeze blowing, and connect with nature. Visitors can take the walk at their own pace and spend as long as they’d like.

What not to miss:

Look for the 200-year-old oak tree and the hanging ferns. The canopy walk also offers views of the Blanton Family Lagoon. Keep an eye out for kayakers, fish, birds — and even alligators.

What we’re still talking about:

Anyone can enjoy the Crenshaw Canopy Walk. At 10-ft wide, it is ADA accessible. Kids will love the adrenaline rush, and adults will appreciate the seating areas for a more relaxed tour. It’s fun for the whole family.
