The EF-2 tornado that blew through Polk County

Were you woken up Friday night by a Tornado Warning alert?🙋‍♀️

Tropical Storm Nestor made her presence known in North Lakeland, Kathleen, Plant City, and a few other parts in Polk County + FL around 11 p.m. via heavy winds, 10,000+ power outages, rain, and a tornado.

According to reports, the EF-2 tornado (with winds up to 120 mph) crossed I-4, flipping a tractor-trailer, throwing debris, ripping off roofs, flipping homes, and more. The Polk County Sheriff’s Office reported that the tornado first touched down near Lakeland Linder International Airport at 11:21 p.m. on Friday.

Hurricane season ends on Nov. 30.
