Good morning, Lakeland – Kaylee here. Being the type of person who has booked trips across the country + throughout the world, I’ve learned some travel tips along the way. Lucky for us, we have two major airports (that offer commercial flights) around an hour or so from downtown – Tampa International Airport (TPA) + Orlando International Airport (MCO).
In my experience – I’ve found the best way to look for flights out of both TPA + MCO is through a quick “Google Flights” search. Here’s how it works:
- Google “flights from Lakeland” and select “flights” from the option tabs at the top of the screen.
- Select the number of passengers, dates, etc.
- If you’re feeling spontaneous – leave the destination blank and Google will do the rest.
Through my quick, two-minute search, I found five flights that would make for the perfect getaway – including a couple of flights just in time for Valentine’s Day weekend. (I also strived to find flights with prices that were budget-friendly – a.k.a. under $350).
- Denver | $172 | Fri., Jan. 10-Mon., Jan. 13 | Spirit Airlines | MCO
- Los Angeles | $153 | Fri., Jan. 10-Mon., Jan. 13 | Spirit Airlines | TPA
- New York | $233 | Fri., Feb. 14-Sun., Feb. 16 | JetBlue | TPA
- Chicago | $100 | Fri., Feb. 14-Sun., Feb. 16 | Frontier Airlines | TPA
- Philadelphia | $95 | Fri., Feb. 14-Sun., Feb. 16 | Frontier Airlines | MCO
Disclaimer: Google Flights search is continuously updating based on flights available. The above selection of flights were available to book as of 5 p.m. yesterday. We recommend updating your search preferences based on your travel needs, and of course checking with the airline directly regarding pricing.
