What you need to know about The Rec Room and Good Thyme in Lakeland

ICYMI, Lakeland’s food + entertainment scene is getting a whole new upgrade.

The team behind Cob & Pen one of Lakeland’s premier venues for food ingenuity, craft favorites + camaraderie – are bringing two new concepts to Swan City: An arcade bar combo called The Rec Room + a fast-casual restaurant called Good Thyme.

Here’s what you need to know:

The Rec Room

  • The arcade-bar will be located on the corner of Munn Park + downtown at 202 N. Massachusetts Ave. (in the building that used to house Firestone + LkldTV.)
  • The Rec Room will occupy 4,000 sq. ft. of the space.
  • There will be a full bar with domestic + craft beer, and wines.
  • They will be open to all ages before 9 p.m., and then only over 21 after 9 p.m.
  • The type of activities you can expect include: Galaga, Pac-Man, Mortal Kombat, Walking Dead, Skee-Ball, Air Hockey, PlayStation, and Nintendo
  • There will be no cover charge, but games are pay-to-play.
  • No opening date has been released yet, but we’ll keep you up-to-date.

P.S. According to reports, The Rec Room still needs a conditional-use permit from the city, but officials are confident they will receive one.

Good Thyme

  • Good Thyme will be located in the old D’Lucas building at 1037 Dixieland Mall Lane, near Concord Coffee.
  • The concept is built around online food ordering + pick-up.
  • The menu will include items such as biscuit sandwiches, fried cauliflower rice, and poke bowls.
  • Additional plans include pop-up dinner nights + oyster happy hours.
  • The restaurant is expected to open fall 2019.
