Prost! September may still have a few days left, but Oktoberfest is already in full swig. Or should we say Swantoberfest – Lakeland’s own version of the beer-guzzling good time.

So raise your glass (a pretend beer glass is fine, humor me here), and give three cheers to the free fest which happens tomorrow, Sept. 21 (Saturday) in Munn Park from 5-9 p.m.

Thanks to several community sponsors and partners, this Bavarian-inspired celebration combines German food, competitions, local vendors, music, outdoor fun + more. Come on, it really doesn’t get much better than that.

Here are just a few highlights:

🥨 Dish: The Suncoast Credit Union SwantoberFest Lakeland Food Tent will serve up a variety of traditional German fare + local favorites like brats and pretzels.

🧒 ForKids: Yes this event is kid-friendly. Kinder Platz games and activities will be made available, so tell your little Nachkomme all about the Root Beer Garden and the meet + greet with local sports teams.

🍺 TryThis: Bragging rights are on the line. Participate in individual games as well as team competitions in the Outrageous Olympiad – such as a brat toss + a beer holding competition.

🎶 Listen: The Europa Band will play songs, from old German Polkas and sing-alongs to popular country with instruments like accordions, trumpets, guitars, violins, drums, and plenty of vocal harmonies. FYI, the band’s motto is: Polka Lives!
