Would you want to see party pedal tours come to Lakeland?

In case you missed it, earlier this year, Swan Pedal Co. pitched the idea to bring party pedal trams to the Lakeland area. Earlier this week, commissioners approved the regulations for the vehicles.

Ordinance no. 21-037 details how the streets will be established for the tours, regulations on the vehicles themselves, what alcohol may be consumed (beer, wine, hard cider, and malt-based beverages under 19%), and age restrictions.

For context, here’s how other cities are utilizing pedal tours:

📍 St. Petersburg, FL | Our neighbors to the west have utilized PedalPub St. Pete, which allows riders to book a single seat or the whole bike — both for under $40. Routes are confined to a handful of blocks, with stops along the way at local bars.

📍 Savannah, GA | Pedal tours are commonplace in Savannah with multiple businesses conducting similar tours daily, featuring stops along the way at a handful of pubs + bars. Here, all forms of alcohol may be consumed, including liquor, due to Savannah’s active open container laws.

📍 Nashville, TN | Similar to Savannah, Nash has multiple pedal tour options + is the original city to enact such tours. This activity is so popular in Music City that it was voted the no. 1 outdoor activity in Nashville.

📍 Kansas City, MO | Pedal Hopper Kansas City operates a bit differently, allowing riders to choose 3 spots of their choice to visit. Here, however, peddlers may not bring alcohol aboard the bike + may only consume alcohol while at the 3 stops.
