Between all the new developments popping up, the increase of people moving to our region, and the top priorities on officials’ agendas, Lakeland’s getting quite the makeover. But what does this mean for your commute time, road navigation + LAL’s general infrastructure?

Being the informed Lakelanders you are, talk about said new developments no doubt spark your interest, especially concerning our roadways. We’ve noticed that on most of our posts announcing new developments on Facebook + Instagram, many of you have had questions, concerns, and ideas about this exact topic.

This is what we have heard you say:

  • On the South Florida Avenue Road Diet: A majority of you are concerned that reduction of lanes will cause travel issues such as a major gridlock + increased commute times.
  • Concerning Lakeland’s transportation hub: Many of you want to know what this means concerning Brightline potentially coming to Lakeland one day.
  • On new spec warehouses by I-4: Several of you have emailed us, curious about what type of businesses you want I-4 dotted with and questions on where trucks would park.
  • When it comes to envisioning a better downtown: While there’s huge excitement for growth, many Lakelanders are worried about what it all means in terms of the parking situation (especially downtown).
  • And with so many new developments in the works: Several of you feel that LAL doesn’t have the roads for all the residents of the new subdivisions + apartments being built.

To help address these, we’re teaming up with the City of Lakeland to get your questions on traffic + infrastructure answered.

Let us know what questions you have in the engagement module below + we’ll pass them along. Also, be on the lookout for an upcoming newsletter with the 411 on Lakeland transportation.
