Buckle up Lakeland. The locally-produced documentary “Fly Like A Girl” will be playing in select theatres and on-demand as of Oct. 9.

The producers at Indie Atlantic Films shared that the film, directed by Florida Native Katie McEntire Wiatt, was acquired by Gravitas Ventures, part of the Red Arrow Studios company. Some Lakelanders might have already seen the documentary as it aired at The Polk Theatre back in January.

Katie was a teacher at Churchwell Elementary before handling the camera + shot many scenes in the Lakeland area. But now, more have the chance with select theatres picking up the documentary for screenings and it’s available on-demand in just a few short weeks.

The film is 84 minutes long + details a movement of women and their desire to break into aviationa predominantly male-centric profession. Watch how their journey to new heights was relentless and nothing short of admirable + listen to accounts from women in all stages of life and their passion for the sky. From young girls, relaying their dreams of commanding the cockpit and the real-life tellings of women who helped lead gravity-defying shuttle missions far past the 863.

Currently, screening locations are to be determined + we will update as more details are released. But, until then, be sure to check out the trailer + follow Fly Like A Girl + Indie Atlantic on Instagram for additional breaking information.
