ICYMI, last week the Netflix TV show Big Mouth ran an episode centered around Lakeland.

Though the episode itself Polks a little fun at Swan City (and Florida in general), we take it all in good stride. After all, what more are Floridians born with other than a penchant for year-round A/C and a good sense of humor?

This shoutout hasn’t been our only recent pop culture claim to fame. Early last month, the Publix cake tower (formally known as ‘Hydrocake’) made an appearance in Need For Speed Heat’s Palm City map, according to one Reddit user. 🏎️

Over the years, Lakeland has been the backdrop for movies like Edward Scissorhands, (looking at you, Southgate Shopping Center), The One and Only Ivan, Mr. Baseball + several more flicks.

And it doesn’t stop there, as many celebrities have boarded the Lakeland love train – from Seth Rogan celebrating our bbq restaurants + Frank Lloyd Wright to a mention in an Aqua Teen Hunger Force episode from local actor George Lowe.

We just can’t help it that we’re popular. 💁 Do you know of other Lakeland pop culture references? Send them our way by replying to this email or through the question box below. ⬇️
