A Florida senator recently filed a bill that would name Coconut Patties as Florida’s official state candy. If approved by lawmakers, they would join a list of “officialFlorida items like Tupelo Honey, the horse conch, Key lime pie, mockingbirds, dolphins, panthers, and alligators.

The only problem is that the candy is hard to findunless you’re in an airport or hotel (aka a high-tourist place). Manufactured by Orlando-based Anastasia Confections, Coconut Patties are marketed specifically to the tourist industry with Florida-themed packaging featuring palm streets, sea shells + gators.

And so we decided to take the question to you.

We asked what you thought Florida’s official state candy should be and here’s what you said:

  • Orange Slices
  • Salt Water Taffy
  • Dove
  • M&M’S
  • Citrus Hard Candy
  • Orange Jolly Ranchers
  • Lemon Drops
  • Chocolate Covered Key Lime Bites
  • Circus Peanuts
  • Nougat with citrus pieces
  • Candied Orange Peel

If you have another suggestion for a sweet craving, submit it here or let the senator know directly. There’s no such thing as too much candy.
