As more businesses in FL slowly begin reopening, we’ve heard from readers with questions + concerns about when life could start getting back to normal. Today, we wanted to check in with you about how you’re feeling – and when you’ll personally feel ready to step back into restaurants, movie theatres, concert venues + more. We’ve created a short poll to collect your feedback, and we’ll share the results in a newsletter next week. And thanks to The Hustle for this article, which provided the original inspiration.

Here’s where we’re at:

  • We are currently mid-way through Phase One of Governor Ron DeSantis’s reopening plan for the state.
  • Schools must continue distance learning.
  • Telework is encouraged, if possible.
  • Visits to senior living facilities are prohibited.
  • Elective surgeries have resumed
  • Restaurants may offer outdoor seating with a six-foot space between tables and indoor seating at 25% capacity.
  • Retail can operate at 25% of indoor capacity.
  • Movie theatres will not be reopening.
  • Bars + gyms must remain closed.
  • Barbershops, nail salons + hair salons can reopen.

Here’s what’s up next:

The date for Phase Two of FL’s reopening plan has not yet been announced. (Although, Miami-Dade and Broward counties will be allowed to move into Phase One on Monday, and there’s speculation an announcement on Phase Two will be made today.) The timeframe for Phase Two is dependent on certain benchmarks being met during Phase One, including that the state maintains the health benchmarks + hospital bed capacity and continued monitoring COVID-19 test positivity rate.

That’s what we’re allowed to do. But what will you actually be comfortable doing as quarantine lifts? We want to hear from you. Take our survey below (now through Tuesday, May 19) to share your thoughts on when it will be safe to do things like eat at restaurants, enjoy an outdoor concert, or travel.
