It may technically still be winter (for two more days), but luckily, we live in Floridahome to year-round temperate weather and 175 award-winning state parks, trails + historic sites.

To help you take advantage of these resources (and get some quality time in with the kids), here are five ways to get outdoors with your family this spring, put together by the parenting pros at Lakeland Christian School:

1. Hike at Colt Creek State Park 👟

  • Cost: $4/vehicle
  • Level, grassy trails (easy enough for little ones) through majestic pine glades with dozens of different kinds of birds
  • More info here

2. Canoe at Hillsborough River State Park 🚣

  • Cost: $6/vehicle, $25/canoe
  • An easy paddle with plenty of wildlife to spot (including gators)
