The Southeast is in for more wintry weather, with Polk County under a cold weather advisory on Tuesday, Jan. 27, 12-9 a.m.

The National Weather Service issued a cold weather advisory for Polk County on Tuesday, Jan. 27, in effect until 9 a.m. A freeze watch will follow, and temperatures could dip below 24º.

Lakeland is doing its part to help those dealing with snow + ice up north. Lakeland Electric sent 21 mutual aid crew members to South Carolina ahead of the storm, and Hurricane Hunters flew out from NOAA’s Lakeland base to gather crucial data for forecasters.
