It’s no secret – Here in Central Florida, summer is basically a year-round season. 🌴 In fact, sometimes it can feel like the dog days are never over.

Luckily, here in Lakeland, we have many ways to cool off – including air-conditioned restaurants, cold brews and shaded ballparks. To help you navigate, we rounded up the August events we’re looking forward to (including our launch party tomorrow, which you are all invited to). 🎉

1. Lakeland Restaurant Week | now-Sun., Aug. 19 | Nineteen61, Bay St. Bistro, Scarpa’s Italian, + more | $35 | The 3rd annual celebration features a special dinner menu for just $35 at each participating restaurant. 🍴

2. LALtoday Launch Party | Thurs., Aug. 16 | 5:30 - 8 p.m. | Cob & Pen | 1221 Florida Ave. S. | free | Meet the LALtoday team + have a beer on us. We can’t wait to hear your suggestions, feedback, and great ideas. 🍺

3. Taco ‘Bout Hunger Charity Baseball Event | Sat., Aug. 18 | 5 - 9 p.m. | Publix Field at Joker Marchant Stadium | 2301 Lakeland Hills Blvd. | $12+ | A night of baseball + tacos all for the Catholic Charities of Polk County. 🌮

4. Everything but the Meat | Wed., Aug. 22 | 6 p.m. | Publix Aprons Cooking School | 4730 Florida Ave. S. | $50 | Learn how to grill seasonal vegetables + fruits that the whole family will enjoy. Because BBQing season is just beginning.

5. Kon Tiki Taco | Fri., Aug. 24 | 7 - 11 p.m. | Haus 820 | 820 N Massachusetts Ave.| $25 | Grab some local food and drinks + groove in your best Hawaiian shirt to the sounds of DJ Jenks. Ages 21+. 🌺

6. Lakeland Beer + Bacon Festival | Sat., Aug. 25 | 1 - 4 p.m. + 5 - 8 p.m. | RP Funding Center | 701 W Lime St. | $10+ | Unlimited sampling of 80+ beers, cocktails + an abundance of bacon-filled dishes. 21+. 🥓
