At first thought it may not seem like recording studios are a LAL thing, but with the current music scene in our community, this couldn’t be further from the truth. Live shows, open mic nights + coffee shop sets have been embraced by the city. You never know who may be dropping the next single.

There’s even a curated LKLD playlist on Spotify that’s continuously being updated with fresh tunes from local talent. Created by singer + songwriter Aaron Marsh, the frontman from Florida-based indie rock band Copeland is a Lakelander himself. He is also one of the founders of The Vanguard Room. So without further ado, let’s hear it from the top.

The Vanguard Room | 📍1037 S. Florida Ave., Lakeland

Established in 1999, the studio moved around until settling into its permanent location at historic Dixieland in 2010. Having served musicians and songwriters from central F.L., the U.S. + even abroad, it has also produced music for film and commercial use.

Some artists that recorded here are SEU Worship, The Dangerous Summer, Michael McArthur, Copeland, and Grace City Music (who’s next record is set to release Sept. 21).

Sound House Studios | 📍113 S. Florida Ave., Lakeland

This commercial recording studio is located in the Munn Park Historic District and owned by Jonathan Gautier. The space features a “pallet wall” designed by Nate Mundell of Lakeland Pallet Co. and accommodates live or single tracking sessions.

Some artists that recorded here are Glass House Point, Jenny Weaver, and Access Church.

LRM Studio Productions | 📍4015 Old Colony Rd., Mulberry

Dating back to 1995, Ron Williams originally started this studio in Orlando as a veteran performer and producer. It is set on providing custom audio recordings for any type of project with varieties of services.

Electric Media Group | 📍3625 Century Blvd. Ste. 1, Lakeland

EMG Studio is a 1,600 sq. ft. space with a control room, live room + photography studio, offering services in audio production, film, photography + graphic design. With a vast selection of equipment, you’re bound to rhapsodize about your first take.

Her Boss Studio | 📍537 Berkley Rd, Auburndale

Her Boss Studio welcomes artists with a team of engineers 24/7 by appointment for studio time. They’ll provide the full package of video, photography, mixing, mastering + co-duplication.

Back Pocket Recording Studio | 📍1514 S Alexander St. Ste. 204, Plant City

This newly opened state-of-the-art recording studio helps with the recording and mastering process from start to finish. They consistently update and add new equipment to the space for you to discover that ideal sound.

And, of course, there are a few more killer studios around so if you have an artistic friend, ask them if they recorded in the area. Let us know by replying to this email or over on Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter.

We just might do a second take on this.
