Polk County commissioners have adopted a $2.4 billion budget
for the upcoming year (2022-23). Here’s a by the numbers look at some of the improvements outlined:
- 35. The number of new positions Polk County will add. Public safety + health roles (like fire rescue and utilities) will make up 17 of these positions. Plus, a 5% phased-in pay raise for current employees.
- $94 million. That’s how much the county will set aside in one-time capital investments. (Think: Long term projects like infrastructure and construction.)
- $26 million. That amount designated for phases two and three of fire station development.
- $26.7 million. The funds being dedicated to reducing traffic on US 27 via an extension of Thompson Nursery Road to connect with US 17.
