We are just days away from 2021 and with the New Year comes new projects, plans, and amendments to our ever-changing skyline. And, after the year we just had, it’s no surprise that Lakeland is jonesin’ for something new to look forward to –– development-wise that is.

So, without further ado, here are eight upcoming developments you can look forward to this coming year right here in Lakeland.

🚧 Swan Lake Village | Located in North Lakeland off of Griffin Rd.

There’s dancing in Swan Lake, and then there’s living in it. While we’ll go ahead and leave the first part up to the pros (take it away, Tchaikovsky), we will take this opportunity to share that an affordable housing development under the same name will soon be coming to North Lakeland, off Griffin Rd. The development, announced late last year, will consist of 84 units, designed for people with low-income + special needs. Construction on the development is estimated to be completed by summer 2021 and applications will be available around that time as well.

🚧 Bonnet Springs Park | 1025 George Jenkins Blvd.

Proposed plans for this privately-funded 160+ acre park include bike paths, several playground areas, nature trails, botanical gardens, and much more. And don’t worry about parking, Bonnet Springs Park is set to have 6,000+ parking spaces. The park is slated to open in 2021.

🚧 CenterState Logistics East | 8565 State Rd. 33

This 1,011,697 sq. ft. logistics park will sit on ~165 acres. It will allow for 263 trailers, 254+ cars, and have 190 ft. of truck court. It is located at Exit 38 on I-4 with 5,100 ft. of I-4 frontage. This facility will allow for same-day delivery throughout the state + is only 50 minutes from the Port of Tampa and 90 minutes from Port Manatee.

🚧 Lakeland Central Park | On Polk Parkway

Located on the Polk Parkway, this logistics park is set to break ground on its first building in 2021. Easy access to all major freeways, including I-75, I-4, and US 27. Tenants include: Advanced Discount Auto Parts, an Amazon Distribution Center, DHL, O’Reilly Auto Parts, Publix, and more.

🚧 Mirrorton | 600 E Bay St.

Mirrorton is a natural neighborhood extension of downtown. This 305-unit apartment and townhome community is walking (or biking) distance from shops, music venues, galleries, and local spots. This apartment community is slated to open early in 2021.

This eight-story building is going to be Summit Consulting’s new downtown headquarters. The 135,000 sq. ft. building is on Lake Mirror + will house 500 employees. It is tentatively scheduled to be completed in fall 2021.

🚧 Suntrax’s Infield Development | 100 Transformation Way, Auburndale

SunTrax is a large-scale facility that is being developed by the Florida Department of Transportation and Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise. This facility will be dedicated to the research, development, and testing of emerging transportation technologies using safe + controlled environments. Expected to open Winter 2021. Developments coming to Lakeland in the second half of 2021

Lakeland has been described as “Zoom Town” and ranked second in the New York Times’ list of “Fastest Growing Metro Areas in the USaccording to 2020 census data. Are you wondering what that growth will look like?

Here are 6 developments coming to Lakeland as of May 2021.

🚧 National Powersport Auctions, 4035 Frontage Rd. N.

This 140,000-sqft recreational vehicle auction building will double the size of NPA’s existing Plant City location and provide 30% more job opportunities. The location will open in 2 years.

🚧 Lakeland Central Park, located off Polk Parkway spanning from Old Tampa Hwy to Airport Rd.

This 5,000,000-sqft facility will sit on I-4 for employee access + distribution purposes. The first 708,000-sqft space is slated to be available by July of 2022.

🚧 Bethany Center for Grieving Children | 2470 Lakeland Hills Blvd.

This former Lakeland-based grief center is returning in partnership with Good Shepherd Hospice. The 1,500-sqft facility will feature a playroom, grief cave, art studio, and more.

🚧 Car Max, 3223 US Hwy. 98 N.

Opening today, this 7,590-sqft dealership is home to 20 new employees.

🚧 Jaguar Dealership, 2550 Interstate Dr.

Elder Automotive Group is opening Lakeland’s first Jaguar dealership on June 10 of this year. The facility is slated to be 29,000 sqft and will staff roughly 60 employees.

🚧 Mazda Dealership, 4317 US Hwy. 98 S.

This replacement dealership for the existing Memorial Blvd. location is opening at the end of June and will encompass 24,000 sqft. The space will have a modern design + features, and 10-15 new employees will be hired.
