Catch Phrase: Our readers’ Lakeland-isms

We’re calling on our readers to tell us the phrases they say as a Lakelander that others simply don’t get.

A swan glides near lily pads on a lake in Lakeland, Florida, with city buildings and trees visible in the background.

Others might look puzzled when you say “don’t feed the swans bread,” but Lakelanders know what you mean.

If you’re anything like us and find yourself chronically online, you may have seen posts that say something along the lines of, “When I say _________, and no one gets the reference.”

This got us thinking. It’s no secret that Lakeland’s culture is distinctly unique — from our affinity for our royal avians to our undying devotion to Pub Subs, there are bound to be things that we say in our day-to-day life that might not be understood by all, but mark you as a true Lakelander.

So now, we’re calling on you. Drop us a line with your Lakeland-isms, and we’ll compile a list of our favorites to share in an upcoming newsletter + on our social media. We can’t wait to see what you come up with.
