Hey Lakeland, we love the Swan City + all of the eateries the 863 holds, but sometimes a little change of scenery is good for the soul...and the stomach.

And, being so centrally located between Tampa and Orlando, it takes virtually no time to hop on I-4 and head somewhere new for dinner. So, grab your foodie friend(s), clear your schedule, and head over to Tampa -– it’s only about 40 minutes depending on traffic –– and there are eateries literally on every corner. Here are a few #MustTrys.

Disclaimer: if interested in dine-in options, please call and confirm with the restaurant of your choosing.

Ulele | 1810 N, Highland Ave. | $$$

Ulele is a staple spot for those searching for surf or turf with both lunch + dinner options. This #MustTry spot hosts a menu inspired by Florida with many meals prepared on their barbacoa grill. Currently, Ulele is open for dine-in but reservations are strongly encouraged as this hot-spot fills up fast.

Datz | 2616 S. Dale Mabry Ave. | $$

For the instagrammable foodies, Datz is an eclectic local favorite featuring unique menu items such as the “Darth Burger” –– a positively picturesque burger piled high atop a charcoal bun, stuffed with balsamic-glazed onions, blue cheese, and curried-carrot ketchup. #ProTip:e sure to pop-in next door at Dough for something sweet.

Oxford Exchange | 420 W. Kennedy Blvd. | $$$

This spot is held near and dear to many Tampanians and is more of an experience or somewhere to spend some time. OE as they call it is ‘gram-worthy with a coffee bar, tea bar, giftshop, champagne bar, bookstore, sunglasses pop-up, and restaurant. #ProTip: order the club sandwich with sweet potato fries.

Ciccio Restaurant Group | Various Locations | $-$$$

Ciccio Restaurant Group is a locally-owned restaurant brand featuring a multitude of delicious eateries across the Bay Area. Local hot spots under the CRG umbrella include fan favorites like Fresh Kitchen, Green Lemon, Taco Dirty, and Daily Eats.

Whiskey Cake | 2223 N. Westshore Blvd. B207 | $$

If you’ve worked up an appetite at International Plaza, head into Whiskey Cake for a farm-to-kitchen menu and a craft cocktail. You’re unlikely to find a wall of whiskey like this one anywhere else. #ProTip: Order the chicken melt with their housemade chips + of course, the whiskey cake for dessert.
