Your weekend plans have been made. We’re sending you on a Lakeland-themed scavenger hunt for the chance to win two free tickets to Lkld Food Tours – a guided tour where you’ll learn more about the history of the city + have the chance to enjoy unique tastings at top Lakeland eateries. (We’ve experienced a food tour already and give it a 1000/10 rating.)

Whether you’re a longtime local or you’ve just started calling Swan City home, we want to see pics of you exploring the town and answering 10 trivia questions with pictures.

The rules

  • Using the clues we give you, find as many items, buildings, places, and art around town as you can and take photos with or of them. Selfies count.
  • Post your photos on social media using both #LALscavengerhunt and #LALtoday. (You can use Instagram stories, Instagram posts, Facebook posts, or Twitter. Just make sure to tag us so we can see your adventures.)
  • Or, send photos to hello@laltoday.com with the subject line as “LALtoday Scavenger Hunt.”
  • #ProTip: Get as creative with the photos as you want – and bring a buddy if you’re feelin’ it.
  • Include a sentence of what the photos are and where they were taken, matching each number to the correct answer.
  • P.S. By sending us photos, you have given us permission to publish across LALtoday, including our newsletter, website + social media platforms.

After you send us photos (Contest ends Sept. 20), we’ll contact the winner + feature them in an upcoming LALtoday newsletter. We can’t wait to explore Lakeland with you. Questions about our #LALscavengerhunt? Reply to this email + ask away

The clues

  1. All shining and silver, with a beautiful face, look into me and find this place.
  2. I am the first high-rise building downtown + was once home to First Florida Bank.
  3. I’m a super cool hangout where New Orleans’ treats are served hot + succulents are abundant.
  4. We are considered the 10 most popular squeezes on Lemon Street.
  5. I was built in 1885 by Abraham Munn and was once considered the “Best hotel in South Florida.”
  6. Some call me ‘Sputnik,’ and according to rumors, pilots use me as a reference point at night.
  7. If it’s your birthday you can eat steak here for free.
  8. I’m the royal mascot of Lakeland and you can find me hanging out at the Lake or celebrated through sculptures around town.
  9. My indoor starry sky + long staircases are historic and Elvis has been known to frequent me.
  10. A lot to drink and a lot to chew. Come hang out with me for a salad, soup, or brew.
