Happy Wednesday, Lakeland. In case you haven’t heard, there’s a new backyard party in town – and you can consider this your official invite. ✉️
Open seven days a week, The Yard On Mass (TYOM) – located at 802 N. Massachusetts Ave. – opened its doors this November. And not ones to ever miss a party – we booked it on over to see if the entertainment + food venue lived up to it’s pitcher perfect reputation. (Spoiler alert: It does.)
Because we know the most important pieces of information for any Lakelander, we’ll hit on them first: One, yes it is free to enter – both inside the space + outside in the backyard. Two, the parking (behind the building) is easy to navigate and is abundant.
What you can expect
- A modern, minimalist, and industrial vibe, featuring a 25 ft. ceiling and wooden tables.
- A giant “L-shaped” bar, rotating food trucks + an assortment of beers on tap.
- Four large flatscreens to watch all the sports, movies + to keep up-to-date on the news (when you’re not reading LALtoday, of course).
- The nicest owners, bartenders, food truck vendors, and waitstaff.
- An ample number of outlets for laptops + chargers.
- Free Wifi (Need we say more?).
- Picnic tables with umbrella stands (in case it does that “Florida rain thing” for five minute intervals).
- Backyard games galore.
- Great walkability/access to the rest of downtown Lakeland.
#ProTips
- Order the samosas + the burrito bowl from Manna International Streetfood when they’re there. Or the doughnut burger + fried pickles from Southern Munchies. Just trust us on this. (And bookmark this page to keep up with the food truck schedule in general).
- To get an extra cozy feel – make sure to sit on the very “Friends-esque couch” in the corner inside the building.
- If you haven’t stood up from your desk for most of the day (guilty), take advantage of the standing barrels outside.
- Try out the rotating selection of beer, and make sure to drink all the Pinot Grigio. Not feeling a “drink, drink” today? Check out the assortment of soft drinks. We’re here for the tea, sis.
- Come during the day for quieter working or study times, but don’t sleep on the night party for live music. You can find the nightly lineup of bands, here.
- Follow TYOM on Facebook, Instagram + Twitter to stay up-to-date on all the new happenings.
