Ready to scale to new heights? Pace Center for Girls, Polk is hosting this year’s Ten Story Challenge on Fri., April 29 + Sat., April 30.

In case you’re unfamiliar with the event, participants will rappel from the top of the Lakeland Electric building via a partnership with Over the Edge — an urban rappelling nonprofit that works with businesses to find innovative ways to fundraise.

On Friday, the challenge kicks off with VIP Day, where Lakeland community leaders will take the first leap. Mayor Mutz, Mrs. Mutz, President and CEO of Pace, Mary Marx, and Miss Florida volunteer Megan Price are a few of the VIPs who will be kicking off the event at 3 p.m. On Saturday, 90 locals will have the opportunity to rappel, then enjoy music by DJ Malado, food trucks, and other family-friendly activities from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Why does this event matter? Proceeds will benefit Polk’s Pace Center for Girls — a year-round school for at-risk girls in the greater Polk County area. Students at Pace learn academics while regularly working with certified counselors to develop life skills needed to succeed post-graduation.

Founded in Jacksonville, Florida, in 1985, Pace now has 22 locations in Florida and Georgia and serves 3,000+ girls annually.

P.S. If you attend this year’s event, keep an eye out for a familiar face from LAL at the tip-top of the Lakeland Electric building…
