Rejoice, Lakelanders — the spring equinox has sprung, and with that, the promise of warmer days, blossoming landscapes, and yes (takes deep sigh) pollen. Personally, we think the weather is an underrated conversation topic, so we peeked at some of the major weather trends headed our way over the next few months.
Here’s what you can expect this spring in Swan City and beyond based on predictions from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Climate Prediction Center.
🌡️ Temperature
Think warm. Expect to see warmer-than-normal temperatures across much of the United States, with the exception of the Pacific Northwest, California coast + upper Midwest, where temperatures are expected to be slightly cooler through at least April. In Lakeland, there’s a 40-50% chance of temps being hotter than usual. Usually, Lakeland averages highs of 85° in April, 89° in May, and 89° in June.
🌨️ Precipitation
Keep your umbrella nearby. At this time, rain could trend above or below normal through June. Usually, Lakeland averages 2.7 inches of rain in April, 2.0 in May, and 4.5 in June.
⌛ Drought
The chances of a drought developing will likely diminish through May 31.
