May is just a few days away 😮 – but before we start the new month, we’re taking a look back at the best things that came our way in April – like the new restaurants we’re most excited about (heyyy, Curry Mango and Yard on Mass) and allll the concerts coming this summer worth a ticket purchase.

ICYMI – here are the top conversations we had with you this month.

Top conversations:

Lakeland’s newest Indian restaurant: Curry Mango

A new restaurant concept is coming to town – bringing with it an exotic fusion twist on Indian food + the dining out experience. Curry Mango is slated to open July 1 at 6625 S. Florida Ave. and will be joining Cafe Roti as the only Indian restaurants in Polk County. And it’s officialyou all are ready for more exotic food options in Lakeland. Moroccan came out on top in our poll of what type of restaurant you are hoping comes here next. (And we can’t say we blame you.) 🇲🇦

An update on The Yard on Mass in Lakeland

A food truck park with 2,500 sq. ft. of event space is coming to Lakeland, and we wanted to share a sneak peek look of the renderings with you.

Would a plastic bag fee work in Lakeland?

We wondered too. So, we explored what other cities are currently doing nationally + gave the fast facts on the bag trend.

Superintendent Jacqueline Byrd: No guns for Polk teacher (The Ledger)

Over 1,000 of you dove deeper into this article that noted Polk County Schoolboard officials responding to the bill that was passed last week on arming teachers with guns in schools. Their response? The school district will continue to place armed guardians or school resource officers in the district’s 150 schools, rather than arm teachers.

Famed Polk County rolling-uphill Spot

The National Register of Historic Places just got a wee bit spookier. Famed Polk County landmark, Spook Hill (located near N. Wales Dr. between Burns Ave. and Spook Hill Elementary School), was officially added to the register earlier this month. The topographical optical illusion makes objects appear to roll up rather than down the hill.
