A Halloween-season staple has returned from the dead for its 12th year, with fun for both thrill seekers and scaredy-cats alike. Editor Connor here — I got a shriek peek at what’s new at Sir Henry’s Haunted Trail before it opens on Friday, Sept. 26 over in Plant City. Here’s what to know before you go.
The three haunted trails (“City of Slaughter,” “Ravensgate Asylum,” and “Skinwalker’s Hex”) are the main attraction here. These outdoor, wooded trails take a few minutes to walk through, and they’re packed with terror around every corner.
As someone with minimal haunted house experience, I pushed myself to brave “City of Slaughter,” where I maxed out my scream quota for the night. Pro tip: Wear shoes you can really walk in, because those dark forest trails are no joke.
For even more fright, hop on the “Legends of Halloween” haunted hayride. This one felt a bit more toned down compared to last year’s, which I enjoyed more. Still, prepare yourself for a fully immersive experience (I’m talking beside you, over your head, and maybe even on your trailer).
There’s more to enjoy if you’re not into scares. You’ll find the new Sir Henry’s Swag Shop, a few escape games, and a small food court featuring Smitty’s corndogs and Keel & Curley ciders. Just keep an eye out for costumed scare actors around the main hub.
