But before handing over that cookie or gift basket nibble, remember to double-check the packaging or recipe. Festive foods can contain unexpectedly harmful ingredients to animals, including chocolate, onions, dyes + spices.
These ingredients can cause pain, digestive issues, pancreatitis, and even toxicity, and you may find yourself making an unplanned vet visit.

What you need to know about attending a Lakeland City Commission meeting
Commissioners unanimously voted for the change. | Photo by the City of Lakeland
Lakeland City Commissioners will hear an official proposal from Lakeland Linder International Airport during its meeting this Monday, Dec. 18. In case you missed it, Avelo Airlines could start service as soon as this summer — meaning you could catch flights in time for summer vacation.
Wondering how you can attend the meeting either in-person or online? Here’s what you need to know.
When and where are they held?
Meetings are held monthly on the first and third Monday of each month at 9 a.m. — minus holidays — at City Hall, 228 S. Massachusetts Ave.
How can I comment?
At the end of each meeting, audience members can make comments. Pro tip: City commission meetings vary in length based on what’s on the agenda, so the time of audience comments and meeting dismissal varies.
I’ll chime in with our Instagram followers and share my shortlist of desired destinations from LAL — Sioux Falls, SD; Birmingham, AL; and Colorado Springs, CO, to name a few.
