We asked for your favorite foodie destination, and readers sent us to the Shoppes at Lake Miriam Crossing plaza. Businesses in this shopping center have waited patiently since the Publix was demolished last summer — it’s a great time to support these locally owned restaurants before the supermarket reopens in November.
Reader Neva M. suggests a salad, bowl, or wrap from SoFresh, because “EVERYTHING is sooo fresh!” Add your favorite protein or mix-ins to any item to make it your own.

Fan favorite

When Publix closed, Lakelanders lamented the loss of the Chinese food counter in the store. Thankfully, the owners behind it opened their own storefront in the same plaza, meaning you can now get beloved dishes, like bourbon chicken + General Tso’s, from Lake Miriam Chinese Kitchen.

Top rated

Getting good reviews is a piece of pie for Palace Southside. The Italian restaurant earned the plaza’s top Yelp rating thanks to its housemade entrees and wine selection. Try a plate of pasta to see for yourself.

The Wrap

Today’s edition by: Connor Jacobson

I know what you’re thinking: What’s happening with the Lake Miriam Publix? I snapped a photo outside the construction zone this week so you can see some of the exterior progress. Here’s what you can expect inside when it opens sometime next month before Thanksgiving.
A newly renovated Publix supermarket exterior, with a black truck in the foreground and caution tape blocking the parking lot.

This is as close as I could get, for now.
