Bank of Central Florida is making money moves.
The local biz just celebrated the grand opening of its newest office in South Tampa Bay — its first-ever location built from the ground up + its sixth office overall.
Here’s what you need to know about this milestone two and a half years in the making:
🖼️ A nod to the neighborhood
The sleek, modern building will act as a new community hub in TBAY’s vibrant SoHo district, offering convenient access to customized banking solutions for local biz owners and customers. It also features historic images throughout the space in honor of the neighborhood’s rich heritage.
Plus, since we all know convenience is the name of the game in banking, it includes all the handy features you need for a quick visit, like a two-lane drive-thru and spacious parking lot.
You’ll also find a full team of friendly Relationship Managers on hand + ready to assist with everything from retirement planning and personal loans to business funding and lines of credit.
🔑 Growing in key communities
The new office also represents a major milestone in the Bank’s Vision 2025 Strategy, which aims to expand its presence along the key I-4 corridor from Orlando to Tampa.
From helping a diesel engine repair shop rev up operations to riding waves of growth alongside JL Marine Systems, Bank of Central Florida has helped countless small businesses along I-4 since opening its doors in 2007.

Lower property tax rates are on the horizon for Polk County residents

$2.99 billion. That’s how much Polk County leaders expect to spend in the 2025 fiscal year.
Up $44.38 million from last year, next year’s proposed budget includes funding for initiatives designed to improve the quality of life for Polk’s residents as the county continues to grow (think: affordable housing, healthcare, public safety, and recreation). One thing Polk’s residents won’t see in the budget? Increased property tax rates.
During a public budget hearing yesterday, county commissioners voted to adopt a lower millage rate of 6.6348 (down by 1% from last year’s millage rate). However, property owners can still expect to pay more in taxes due to an 11.39% rise in property values.
Before commissioners finalize the budget, attend the final public hearing on Monday, Sept. 16 at 6 p.m. in the County Commission Boardroom in Bartow.

It was a big weekend here in Swan City — not only has our beloved Downtown Farmers Curb Market returned, but East of These + Bloom Shakalaka also held a grand opening for their new collaborative storefront. If these events are any indication of how the fall is going to go in Lakeland, I think we’re in for a great couple of months.
