Is there anything more enchanting than a Saturday morning spent at the Lakeland Downtown Farmers Curb Market? Whether you have your route down to a science or you’re looking for some ethereal inspiration, keep reading for 15+ market stops you can’t miss inspired by each zodiac sign. Pro tip: the market returns this Saturday, 8 a.m.-2 p.m.

We consulted with our zodiac-minded readers and followers — here are a few of their suggestions.

Virgo | Aug. 23-Sept. 22

Reader Jan S. gave us the breakdown on Virgos, who, according to her, are “earthy and environmentally conscious.” Virgos can most likely be found perusing handcrafted, handmade goods like those made by Craft Nana Creations, East of These, and Pixie Suds.

Libra | Sept. 23-Oct. 22

Reader Al G. says Libras’ “witty, sympathetic, and charming” nature lends itself to people watching even more than shopping. Pro tip: Put your people-watching skills to use and find a performer or musician along Kentucky Avenue.

Scorpio | Oct. 23-Nov. 21

From what we know of Scorpios, who prefer sophisticated pieces that tell a story, unique, handmade jewelry is right up their alley. Follower @kittelliot recommends Simpatico Silver Jewelry.

Sagittarius | Nov. 22-Dec. 21

Reader Cristina B. claims that “variety is the spice of life for a Sagittarius,” so it’s no surprise that fellow Sagittarius Neva M.'s perfect market route ranges from Aqua Organics to Pocho’s Mango and, of course, petting people’s dogs.

Development
  • AdventHealth is seeking to build a 400-bed hospital + 250-unit apartment complex in south Lakeland off of the Polk Parkway near Harden Boulevard. Before construction can begin, a portion of the land will need a rezoning, which city commissioners will have a first hearing for during tomorrow’s meeting. (LkldNow)

☕️ Two shots of entrepreneurship, please

Grab a cup from Morning Grind, Florida Southern College’s student-run coffee cart

Lakeland is packed with coffee shops, so what makes Morning Grind special? It’s run by Florida Southern College students on campus.

The cart isn’t just a part-time job for students. It’s a learning lab where they can get real world experience and support from the Center for Free Enterprise and Entrepreneurship. Students are given 100% independence to run the business’s daily operations, advertise, and manage profits.

The menu is pretty simple (think: lattes, cold brew, and americanos) but the team is adding new offerings all the time — and even offers pup cups for dogs.

Thankfully, you don’t have to be a Moc to get a pick-me-up. Now that school’s back in session, Morning Grind is open again from Monday to Friday, 7:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. at the Becker Business Building.

If you’re reading this, it means I’m off ending the summer on a Caribbean cruise, but I’ll be back in Swan City next week. That means I’ll sadly be missing the first day of the farmers market season, so grab a Meraki Bakehouse treat in my stead this weekend.
