Opening
  • The Peach House is set to open this week, but its opening date is still under wraps. To be one of the first to try the new restaurant’s Old Florida-inspired food + drink menu, just look out for an “open” sign at 733 E. Palmetto St. (The Ledger)
Traffic
  • Yates Road in southwest Lakeland is now closed for 60 days as part of the ongoing West Pipkin Road widening project. Detours for through-traffic will be in place along Lunn Road and County Line Road to Ewell Road, so add some extra time to your commute.

  • 151. That’s how many candidates a search committee considered for Florida Southern College’s new president. Jeremy P. Martin, their chosen candidate, will have support from Dr. Anne Kerr, who will become president emerita following her retirement. (LkldNow)

  • Home prices are back on the rise, with list prices increasing 0.1% from April to May. The median listing price was $349,425, and homes sat on the market for a median of 58 days (two days fewer than in April). (The Ledger)

  • The Polk County Sheriff’s Office and Florida Polytechnic University are teaming up to start a cybercrime unit focused on artificial intelligence. Florida Poly students will work with PCSO to provide technical support to the unit and assist with investigations.
