Attention shoppers. As first reported by The Ledger, Publix plans to close its supermarket in the Lake Miriam Square plaza in June or July to begin a full remodel. The store at 4730 S. Florida Ave. will be demolished and rebuilt from the ground up, similar to a recent remodel at the Oakbridge Centre Publix on Harden Boulevard.

Several changes are planned for the store, first built in 1978:
  • A bigger store footprint at 63,830 sqft — a 4,297-sqft increase from the current one — that will include the space of the former Aprons Cooking School
  • Mezzanine with a seating area for customers
  • New liquor store + pharmacy in former neighboring retail space
