New developments continue to pop up all over Lakeland, but we’re wondering what we’ll see when the dust settles. Take a peek at what’s to come.

Orange Street Apartments
This new Garden District apartment complex is shaping up right across from Barnett Family Park. CODA Development shared that it will offer 32 units with a mix of one and two-bedroom apartments. Portions of East Orange Street and South Lake Avenue will close today, Sept. 11 through Dec. 15 to install infrastructure for the complex.

We’re excited to see which retailers and restaurants will find a home here.

Prospect Lake Wire
Developers broke ground on this housing and retail project at 608 Prospect St. in February 2023. High-rise buildings are already coming together, as well as a clubhouse for future residents. Carter, a development team from Atlanta, says the project is on track to be finished in October 2024.

Kelly Recreation Complex eLibrary
There are just a few more days until this Lakeland Public Library location opens to the public on Monday, Sept. 18, but the space is still under wraps. The book vending machine can tide you over until opening day.

The location will be renamed the Bob Adams Family Community YMCA.

Lakeland Family YMCA
Phase One of this facility’s $21 million facelift will start this month, beginning with a new 150-space parking lot. A new wellness complex, field house, and childcare facility are next on the to-do list. The project is estimated to be completed in 2027.

Island Breeze Tiki Bar
Lakeland Loft’s owner purchased the space below it at 201 E. Main St. and received approval in April 2023 to turn it into a bar with outdoor seating. Signage for Dart World Gaming Arena, the space’s former tenant, is still up, but window signs promise that Island Breeze is coming soon.
