Hey Lakeland, Connor here. It’s a relatively quiet weekend as the city comes back from a busy holiday season. I wouldn’t miss the very first First Friday of the year, and there are also a few comedy shows that you could hit after you walk through downtown. Here’s more to try out during the first weekend of 2024.

  • Students at Florida Southern College are getting hands-on business experience thanks to a new program rolled out by The Center for Free Enterprise and Entrepreneurship. Participating Mocs will operate a coffee cart with full autonomy — from marketing to menu creation + problem-solving. The cart will serve students and staff this October.
Feel Good
  • David Berry and ~150 other staff and volunteers serve at the Mission of Winter Haven each month. David and his wife Arlene have been the executive director and deputy director, respectively, since 2005. Learn how you can get involved. (Bay News 9)
