When an emergency happens, access to expert care close to home makes all the difference. Lakeland Regional Health (LRH) provides comprehensive emergency services across multiple locations — available 24/7 365 days a year.
Comprehensive emergency care — wherever you need it
In addition to the Emergency Department at LRH Medical Center, patients can visit LRH’s Freestanding Emergency Department off 540A at South Florida Avenue. LRH is the only trauma center in the area and has earned national recognition for excellence in patient care. Its commitment to older adults has earned it Geriatric Emergency Department Accreditation.
“For any patient going to the ER, it’s important to bring your medications with you or even carry a list on a card in your wallet. When something is wrong, it’s hard to remember everything when you’re already stressed or in pain. It’s also helpful to have a family member with you, because they can tell the doctor what happened to the patient,” says Dr. Fred Blind, Emergency Department Medical Director.
LRH’s emergency physicians bring advanced training, compassion, and quick decision-making to every patient.
“We’re able to treat everything from minor injuries such as bumps and bruises to more severe injuries such as broken bones, concussions, asthma exacerbations, and pediatric trauma. Families can trust their child is in the right place,” says Dr. Charles Eldridge, pediatric emergency medicine director at LRH.
Specialized care for expectant mothers
For pregnancy-related emergencies, LRH’s Obstetrics Emergency Department provides specialized care with OB-GYN physicians, nurses, and midwives onsite.
“The Obstetrics Emergency Department ensures that pregnant patients receive the right care at the right time at the right place. We have the expertise that pregnant patients deserve to ensure safer outcomes for the patient and the baby,” says Dr. Rosa Flores, OBED Chief.
