Just in time to celebrate its 60th anniversary, the YMCA of West Central Florida has opened its Bob Adams Family Community YMCA.
The former Lakeland Family YMCA has a new name, fresh look, and more programming space for the thousands who call it a second home. Inside the George Jenkins Fieldhouse, you’ll find basketball/volleyball courts, a turf field, an elevated running track, and state-of-the-art workout equipment.
The Y’s $21 million project will also include improvements + additional classroom space in the original building (and it teased plans for something new at the Fontaine Gills YMCA in the comments of our post). See it all firsthand by becoming a member.
$4.1 million. That’s roughly how much the City of Lakeland will request in state appropriations in the next legislative session. Most of the funding would go to San Gully Road drainage improvements, sewer system conversions for six neighborhoods, and new first responder radios. The session starts in January. (The Ledger)
