We all know that Swan City has a vibrant art scene — and we’re not just talking about the Ashley Gibson Barnett Museum of Art. One of our all-time favorite galleries? Lakeland itself.

The Wrap

Earlier this week, we asked for your Lakeland proposal stories. Shout out to reader Damon P. for sharing this tale:

“In 1956, while a student at at UF, my father proposed to my mother, a FSC student, at the Frank Lloyd Wright water dome. Dad and Mom dated as students at Clearwater High. He was in town with his Lakelander college roommate who later became his best man and then later my godfather. After living up and down the east coast, my godparents, and soon there after my parents, retired to South Lake Morton.”
