Grasslands West, Lakeland’s first gated, single-family rental community, is now open for leasing. The community features three custom-designed homes with 3BR or 4BR, two-car garages, and pet-friendly policies. All homes come with lawn maintenance, pest control, wifi, and cable included in the rent.
Grasslands West is located in a prime location, connected to Lakeside Village and next to Polk Parkway and Harden Boulevard. An eSports center is coming to Lakeland’s Coleman-Bush building this winter. The MidFlorida Credit Union eSports Center will have 20+ stations and programs including two flight simulators supported by the Florida Aerospace Center. The STEM-focused room will tentatively open on Jan. 1. (The Ledger)

Eastbound drivers on I-4 who normally take the Kathleen Road exit will need to use another exit through Thursday at 3 p.m. Crews will be removing the embankment in preparation for two new 400-ft bridges. The bridges will replace the existing 250-ft CSX railroad bridge. (The Ledger)

Polk County native David Wine opened an orphanage in Haiti in 2013. His nonprofit, Black and White for Jesus Ministries, cares for ~60 children who would otherwise have nowhere to go.
