Lakeland-based hurricane hunters from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) are using new drones to track storms. The Altius 600 drone can be dropped into the eye of a hurricane to collect data, which forecasters use to make predictions. (WFTS)

38,395. That’s how many gross acres of Florida land were sold for solar power development in 2022. The latest Polk County development is TECO’s 600-acre solar farm in parts of Dundee and Lake Wales that will power 11,500 homes. (The Ledger)
