Asked ○ Reader Larry L. wants to know: “Any word on what may be going on at the new little strip center on S. Florida between Bob Evans and Home Depot, that is currently anchored by Starbucks?” We’re wondering too – what is going on at that new little shopping center? We’ve reached out to our friends over at the LEDC for some insight but want to know if anyone else has heard whisperings of this new development. Fill us in via email at [email protected].
Civic ○ The Polk County Court is looking to fill a vacant seat and 15 candidates will soon be considered for this vacancy on Oct. 21. The current commission – lawyers from Hardee, Polk, and Highlands counties – will interview the candidates and send six finalists to the Governor who will then appoint the new county judge. State ○ Look up, Lakeland. You might see an unusual amount of bird flock-age in the coming weeks as we inch further into the fall season. Why you might ask? Apparently, birds are beginning to migrate across the state from the north to the Florida Keys for the winter. In fact, the number of birds flocking south was so incredible that the National Weather Service picked up the travelers on the radar. (Tampa Bay 10) 🐦
