NowOpen ○ ElderPoint Services – a local senior services nonprofit – has opened a Caregiver Resource Center at 332 W. Highland Dr. The purpose of the center is to provide support to caregivers + to give information about various providers within the community. The nonprofit is also partnering with students from Warner University to help assist in assessments, through internships. The center will also provide medical transportation for qualifying seniors in Polk County.
Legacy ○ Former City of Lakeland Commissioner Edie Yates Henderson (67) along with her husband, David Henderson (64) have died, as the result of a double-homicide. Lakelanders, the City of Lakeland, and others mourned the loss and remembered the impact Edie (who served as a Commissioner from 2006-2018) and David (who was the owner of Henderson Properties) had in the community. Region ○Orlando may soon be home to “taxi-like” planes, as Lilium – a technology company from Munich – is planning to build their first U.S. Vertiport at Orlando’s Aerotropolis in Lake Nona.The aircraft the company develops are electric + would be used for regional trips around the state.
