ComingSoon ○ Culver’s is coming to Lakeland. The Polk County Planning Commission announced their approval for Culver’s to open 2 locations. The first is set to open on the corner of US-98 + Clubhouse Rd., and the second has yet to announce an exact location. Both have tentatively projected to open in late 2021. 🍦 (The Ledger)
Civic ○ Mulberry’s Imperial Lakes Golf Course (6 Country Club Ln.) is hoping to rezoneto allow for 188 new homes, one on each acre. The property is also eligible to place up to 5 homes on each acre, bringing the total to 940 potential homes, although that is not in owner John Lennon’s plans. (The Ledger)
ForParents ○ Florida’s P-EBT Program has been extended. The program, which sprung up during last year’s state-wide school shut down, provides funds for families whose children received free + reduced lunches at school. Number ○ $100 million. That’s how much Florida is payingto clean up + close the Piney Pointphosphate plant. The effects of April’s wastewater leak into Tampa Bay have been mostly contained + localized, with no reported algae blooms to date.
