A voter percentage of at least 50% had to occur to declare a winner in April, with the closest to that figure being both Shandale Terrell (a special-needs educator) + Mike Musick(owner of Musick Construction and Roofing), moving the final two on to yesterday’s runoff.
Mike will replace former Commissioner Scott Franklin(who was recently elected to the U.S. House of Representatives). The temporary seat on the commission will last until the end of the year, where afinal election will take place to fill the role for a full, four-year term.

Cause ○ Polk County Public Schools received a donation of 1,000 comic books bySecond Sight Publishing. The cost to buy in the Tampa Bay region increased by 20% from last year, with the average home sitting at $300,000. Numbers are expected to rise, especially in Polk. Mosquito control has been working on the project for 10-years as a pesticide alternative — the first of its kind in the country.
