Foodies, rejoice. 😋 A new food tour company is launching this March in Winter Haven, called Winter Haven Food Tours LLC. The local concept was launched by Polk County resident Amada Anderson(who doubles as the group tour guide).
Quoted: “We are thrilled to be the first to offer food tours for small groups to this award-winning city. The tours visit historical landmarks like the Gram Parson’s Derry Down, the Ritz Theatre, and even where the first Publix(now a restaurant!) was established all while sampling tasty treats brought to you by family-owned businesses.” – Amada Anderson
From brunch to happy hour, the scrumptious options will include:
🍳 Winter Haven Brunch Tour(Sat. + Sun., 9:30 a.m.) – Early risers can enjoy brunch items from Winter haven’s local award-winning restaurants + end the day with a trip to the farmers market.
🍣 Afternoon Flavors of Winter Haven Walking Tour (Wed.-Sun. 1:30 p.m.) – For all ages, this tour features a peaceful walk through Downtown Winter Haven, where participants can learn about local historical food culture + hear behind-the-scenes stories, all while chowing down on burgers, pizza, sushi + tacos.
🍻 Winter Haven Happy Hour Walking Tour (Wed., Thurs., Fri., 4:30 p.m.) – Sip, sip, hooray. This after-hours tour takes you on a tasting trip to Winter Haven’s famous drinking establishments, like Grove Roots Brewery and Union Taproom.
Each tour is limited to 10 people per group and prices start at $65 per person.Additionally, COVID-19 restrictions(such as mask-wearing) will be in place during tours.

ComingSoon ○SoFresh, a health-centered restaurant chain, is opening its doors at 4756 S. Florida Ave.(in the Lake Miriam Plaza, where Little Greek once resided)on Jan. 13. The restaurant’s menu includes bowl creations like wild-caught ahi tuna with citrus agave mustard drizzle + grass-fed steak with avocado crema. 🤤
Number ○ $16.7 million, the cost of a new James A. Haley’s Veterans’ Hospital location in Lakeland. The hospital system + an engineering and planning firm are seeking approval from the city to build a 130,000 sq. ft. clinic. Three pieces of land in Polk County are being considered and the hospital has another existing location in Lakeland (4237 S. Pipkin Rd.) as well. This new clinic would be for outpatient services and would create around 90 jobs. The project is tentatively set to finish mid-2023 and start treating patients in early 2024. 🏥 (Tampa Bay Business Journal)

Health ○Alexa, play Doctor, Doctor. BayCare Health System will be incorporating Amazon’s Alexa in their hospitals by using a voice platform called Avia Health. Patients will be able to use smart technology in their rooms that will help connect them to physicians and other devices. BayCare is hoping to have the entire system set up by 2021, and will have the largest distribution of Avia products in the US health system. BayCare’s Lakeland locations include walk-in care (4730 S. Florida Ave.) + primary group care (619 Midflorida Dr. #1). 🗣️
Arts ○Not for the paint of he(art). The City of Fort Lauderdale is looking for artiststo design and create artwork for four lifeguard towers.
