Have you ever been to The Joinery and wished there was a full-service restaurant, coffee shop with early hours, or more parking? You might be in luck. The Lakeland food hall is purchasing land at 678 E. Main St. to provide just that.

Wesley Beck, a local developer and owner of The Joinery’s property, approached the city with an offer of $125,000 for the land, which was approved in a 6-1 vote in today’s City Commission Meeting.

While a construction date has yet to be announced, Wesley and Jon and Sarah Bucklew, who founded The Joinery, plan to address some of the most popular requests for the space (mentioned above) if everything goes to plan.

The Shed,” as the expansion will be known, will be home to an early-hours coffee shop, a full-service restaurant, and space to host private events. In addition to “The Shed’s” amenities, the expansion will also allow for 25-28 new parking spaces, nearly doubling the hall’s existing 32-space lot.

The expansion is the result of Jon and Sarah seeing an opportunity when the city opted to move plans for their new dog park from this parcel of land to another, also just off Lake Mirror on the corner of Main Street and Rose Street.
