Would a land-locked lagoon work in Lakeland?

5. That’s how many Central Florida counties will be getting their very own “Caribbean-style lagoons.” Built by Crystal Lagoons, these outdoor attractions feature crystal clear waters, white sandy beaches + plenty of room for a range of water sports.

The lagoons are man-made + use water with fewer chemicals100 times fewer chemicals than what you’d found in your average pool. Currently, a similar idea is taking off in Wesley Chapel, called Epperson Lagoon, however that particular model is private with limited public passes and is attached to a residential neighborhood serving as an amenity.

Crystal Lagoons will be public access without the tie into a neighborhood and will be situated in the following counties by 2023:

  • Orange County
  • Seminole County
  • Osceola County
  • Lake County
  • Sumter County

The first 3 projects to reach completion will pop up specifically in Orlando, Kissimmee, and the Villages. Although there aren’t any plans yet for a Lakeland lagoon, we want to know: how would you feel about an inland island getaway in our city, or at least our county? 🏖
